Indian Railways has sanctioned a major ₹1,131 crore railway infrastructure project to modernize and improve train operations across Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand. The initiative is part of the government's ongoing efforts to expand railway capacity and support economic growth in eastern India.
The project includes the development of railway infrastructure, capacity enhancement works, and operational upgrades to improve punctuality, increase freight movement, and reduce bottlenecks on busy rail routes. These improvements are expected to benefit millions of passengers while supporting industries and businesses that rely on rail transport.
Officials said the investment will strengthen regional connectivity, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to faster, safer, and more reliable railway services. The project is also expected to generate employment during the construction phase and support long-term economic development in the three states.
