Salman Khan’s Cryptic ‘I’ll Send HIM’ Warning to Bandra Café Goes Viral
Salman Khan began with coffee. By the end of his message, Maharashtra’s food-safety crackdown had entered the conversation without the actor naming a single official.
The Bollywood star was giving a social-media shout-out to The Tuck Shop at Savio’s, a newly opened café in Bandra associated with his friend Srishti Sawhney. His Instagram Story carried the sort of advice any new food business might expect from a regular customer: keep prices reasonable, maintain quality and pay attention to hygiene.
Then he added a warning.
“Hygiene maintained or I will send HIM,” Salman wrote.
The capitalised “HIM” was left unexplained. Its meaning, however, was quickly interpreted in entertainment and news reports as a reference to Tukaram Mundhe, Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration Commissioner, who has become increasingly visible because of an extensive inspection drive targeting food establishments.
Salman has not publicly confirmed that interpretation.
That distinction matters. What went viral was not an announcement that Mundhe would inspect the café, but a joke built around the regulator’s reputation.
From Coffee Refill to Food-Safety Warning
Salman shared a video connected to the Bandra café and addressed his friend directly.
“Price mat badhana, quality maintain karna,” he wrote, asking that prices not be increased and standards be maintained.
The message then turned to hygiene before arriving at the unexplained reference to “HIM”.
He closed with “it’s done sis”, a playful variation on the “It’s done, bro” phrase associated with him online.
Taken together, the language makes the tone fairly clear. Salman was promoting a friend’s new venture while jokingly setting conditions for his endorsement.
There is no indication in his post that The Tuck Shop at Savio’s has committed any food-safety violation, nor did Salman claim that the establishment was facing an inspection.
The joke was about what could happen if hygiene slipped, not an allegation that it already had.
Why Tukaram Mundhe Entered the Conversation
The apparent reference landed because Mundhe needs less introduction in Maharashtra than he might have a few months ago.
He took charge as Maharashtra FDA Commissioner on May 26, 2026, and the department subsequently intensified inspections of businesses responsible for preparing and selling food.
Between May 25 and July 31, the FDA inspected 3,137 establishments and suspended 165 licences, according to figures reported from the department.
The inspections covered restaurants, hotels and other food businesses, with officials examining hygiene, licensing requirements, adulteration and compliance with food-safety rules.
Those numbers transformed what would otherwise have been an obscure regulatory reference into a recognisable punchline.
Mundhe has also acquired a public reputation for strict administration during his career. Social-media users have described him as a “real-life Singham”, a label reflecting the image of a bureaucrat prepared to take enforcement action rather than his formal role.
Against that backdrop, Salman did not need to type a name for people to make the connection.
But the connection remains an inference.
A Celebrity Endorsement With Conditions Attached
Salman’s post is unusual less for what it says about celebrity friendships than for what it says about the visibility of Maharashtra’s food-safety campaign.
Actors routinely promote restaurants, clothing brands, gyms and other businesses run by friends or associates. Such posts are generally straightforward endorsements.
This one came with instructions.
Keep the coffee coming. Don’t raise the price. Maintain the quality. Keep the place clean.
The “I will send HIM” line gave those otherwise ordinary expectations a topical edge.
It also created an unusual situation for the café itself. A celebrity with Salman’s reach had effectively advertised the establishment while publicly reminding it that hygiene would be noticed.
There was no accusation and no reported regulatory action against the business. The humour depended entirely on the possibility of scrutiny.
Mundhe’s Crackdown Has Moved Beyond Regulatory Circles
Food inspections usually produce local administrative stories. They rarely become material for Bollywood social-media jokes.
Mundhe’s enforcement campaign has crossed that boundary.
The FDA’s inspection of more than 3,000 establishments in roughly two months has put greater attention on how restaurants and other food businesses comply with state regulations. Licence suspensions have given that campaign consequences that owners cannot easily dismiss.
For consumers, the underlying issues are practical rather than theatrical: how food is stored and prepared, whether establishments maintain acceptable hygiene and whether businesses meet licensing and safety requirements.
Mundhe has publicly connected enforcement with protecting public health, rather than treating inspections simply as punitive exercises.
That wider context explains why Salman’s brief post travelled so quickly.
People did not need an explanation of what might happen if the mysterious “HIM” arrived.
‘It’s Done Sis’ Keeps the Tone Light
The closing line also prevented the Story from reading like an actual warning from one powerful figure to another.
Salman ended with “it’s done sis”, adapting a phrase already associated with his online persona.
That wording reinforced the personal nature of the exchange with Sawhney and kept the message closer to teasing advice than regulatory commentary.
It is therefore more accurate to describe the post as a humorous or cryptic warning than as a threat.
Salman does not control FDA inspections, and nothing in the Story suggests otherwise.
The joke works precisely because Mundhe's department does have the authority to inspect food establishments.
One Word Turned the Post Into a Viral Story
Without “HIM”, Salman’s message might have remained a conventional celebrity endorsement of a friend’s café.
With it, the post connected three very different subjects: a Bollywood star, a new Bandra business and Maharashtra’s increasingly visible food regulator.
That combination gave the Story a life beyond Salman’s Instagram audience.
It also shows how recognisable Mundhe’s enforcement drive has become. A regulatory official who might once have required several lines of explanation could apparently be referenced through a single pronoun and still be identified by a large part of the audience.
The most important qualification remains the simplest one.
Salman Khan did not name Tukaram Mundhe.
Reports and social-media users connected the two because of Mundhe’s recent food-safety crackdown and reputation for strict enforcement. Unless Salman clarifies the post himself, that is where the factual line should remain.
What can be said with certainty is that Salman asked a Bandra café to keep its prices in check, maintain quality and protect hygiene.
The rest of the joke was contained in three capital letters.
HIM.
