Sanju Samson–Sreesanth KCL Final Video Goes Viral, Fuels ‘Rift’ Speculation Online

A brief moment involving Sanju Samson and former India fast bowler S Sreesanth at the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) 2026 final has become an unexpected talking point on social media.

Video from the post-match presentation ceremony shows Samson standing on stage near the trophy and officials as Sreesanth arrives. The former pacer can be seen greeting and shaking hands with several people on the dais, but no handshake takes place between him and Samson.

That short interaction — or lack of one — was enough to prompt fans to question whether relations between two of Kerala cricket’s most prominent names have become strained.

There is, however, no confirmation of a rift. Neither Samson nor Sreesanth has publicly explained the moment or said that there is a dispute between them.

What Does the Viral KCL Video Show?

The footage comes from the presentation ceremony following the KCL 2026 final.

Samson was already on stage alongside the trophy and other officials when Sreesanth walked onto the dais. Sreesanth greeted others present, while Samson stood nearby. The two did not exchange a visible handshake during the portion of the ceremony circulating online.

The clip quickly spread across social media, where users began interpreting the body language and questioning why the two cricketers did not acknowledge each other.

The footage itself does not establish the reason for the lack of interaction. Without an explanation from either player, claims that the incident proves a personal fallout remain speculation.

Why Are Fans Linking the Moment to Earlier Comments?

The online reaction has also been shaped by Sreesanth’s previous remarks about Samson’s early IPL career.

Sreesanth has said that he played a role in helping the young wicketkeeper-batter get an opportunity with Rajasthan Royals. In an interview, the former India pacer said he introduced Samson to Rahul Dravid and helped Kerala players travel for opportunities with the franchise.

Sreesanth also questioned a version of Samson’s Rajasthan Royals story in which, according to Sreesanth, it appeared that Dravid had directly contacted the young batter.

His comments added another layer to the discussion after the KCL video surfaced, with some social-media users connecting the two events.

That connection has not been confirmed by either cricketer.

Samson Has Previously Acknowledged Sreesanth’s Support

The history between the two is more complicated than the viral clip alone might suggest.

Samson has previously spoken positively about Sreesanth and acknowledged the former fast bowler’s support during the early stages of his career.

Speaking to Aakash Chopra, Samson recalled how Sreesanth took several young players for Rajasthan Royals trials. He also credited Sreesanth with helping him regain an opportunity with the Kerala side and later taking him to trials in Jaipur.

Samson recalled that Sreesanth enthusiastically promoted his batting ability when introducing him to Rahul Dravid.

Those comments are important context because they show that Samson has publicly recognised Sreesanth’s role in his development, even though their accounts may differ over some details of how his Rajasthan Royals opportunity materialised.

No Public Confirmation of a Samson–Sreesanth Rift

For now, the strongest conclusion supported by the available evidence is straightforward: Samson and Sreesanth did not exchange a visible handshake during the viral portion of the KCL presentation ceremony.

Anything beyond that remains unverified.

Neither player has publicly confirmed a disagreement or explained whether the moment was deliberate. A short video also cannot establish what happened before or after the footage being widely shared.

The episode nevertheless attracted considerable attention because both men occupy an important place in Kerala cricket. Sreesanth represented India across formats during his playing career, while Samson has become one of the state’s most recognisable active cricketers.

Thrissur Titans Won the KCL Final

The viral presentation moment came after Thrissur Titans defeated Calicut Globstars by four wickets to win their first Kerala Cricket League championship.

While the Titans’ title was the major sporting result of the night, the Samson-Sreesanth interaction subsequently emerged as a separate social-media talking point.

Unless either cricketer addresses the incident, however, the suggestion of a personal rift should be treated as online speculation rather than established fact.
