Arjun Das Breaks Silence on Don 3
After months of speculation surrounding the cast and future of Don 3, Arjun Das has confirmed that he was indeed approached for the project.
Speaking to News18, Das said he received a call from Farhan Akhtar and subsequently met the filmmaker to discuss the movie. While he did not disclose extensive details about the proposed character, he confirmed that the collaboration had progressed beyond mere industry speculation.
Das made clear, however, that those plans are no longer going ahead.
He also spoke positively about his interaction with Akhtar and expressed hope that the two could work together on another project in the future.
Was Arjun Das Supposed to Play the Villain?
Earlier reports had linked Das to the antagonist's role in Don 3, opposite Ranveer Singh, who had originally been announced as the franchise's new lead. Reports about Das potentially joining the film had circulated as early as 2025.
Das is particularly known for performances in Tamil films such as Kaithi and Master, where his intense screen presence helped establish him with a wider audience.
His latest comments confirm that discussions with Akhtar took place, although they do not establish every previously reported detail about the proposed role.
That distinction matters because much of the Don 3 casting story has developed through industry reports rather than formal announcements from the production company.
Don 3 Has Faced Major Casting Uncertainty
The third Don film has experienced a turbulent development process.
Ranveer Singh was announced in 2023 as the new face of the franchise, succeeding a character previously played by Amitabh Bachchan in the original 1978 film and Shah Rukh Khan in Farhan Akhtar's Don films.
However, Singh later exited the project. Reports attributed the breakdown to disagreements involving the film's script, production plans and other issues, although Singh did not publicly confirm all of the specific explanations reported about his departure.
The disagreement subsequently expanded beyond a casting change.
Ranveer Singh-Farhan Akhtar Dispute Complicated the Project
After Singh's departure, reports said Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani approached industry bodies over financial losses allegedly associated with the disrupted production.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) subsequently issued a non-cooperation directive against Singh in May 2026. That directive was later withdrawn. Singh's representatives disputed the federation's intervention in what they regarded as a contractual matter.
Reports also referred to a compensation claim in the range of roughly ₹40-45 crore. This figure represents a reported claim arising from the dispute and should not be presented as a judicially established liability.
Singh's team said at the time that the actor had chosen not to publicly discuss the details of professional negotiations and maintained respect and goodwill toward people associated with the franchise.
Hrithik Roshan Rumours Added Another Twist
As questions emerged over who could replace Ranveer Singh, Hrithik Roshan's name became part of the speculation surrounding Don 3.
Roshan, however, publicly denied reports that he had been approached to take over the role, saying he had not received such an offer.
That clarification is important because it leaves the identity of any future lead—and indeed the film's eventual configuration—unconfirmed.
What Arjun Das' Revelation Actually Confirms
Das' statement helps separate one confirmed development from the large amount of speculation surrounding the film.
It confirms that Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Das met and discussed Don 3 and that Das expected the collaboration to materialise.
What it does not establish is that every previously reported casting arrangement had been formally finalised or that the film has been permanently cancelled.
As of October 3, 2026, reports continue to describe Don 3 as uncertain or on hold, with no definitive new production plan publicly announced.
Arjun Das Continues His Hindi Film Journey
While Don 3 is no longer happening for him under the arrangement discussed with Akhtar, Das revealed that he has already completed another Hindi film.
According to the actor, that project is currently in post-production, although he did not provide a confirmed release date during the interview.
The development is notable because Das has built much of his reputation through Tamil cinema, and a major Hindi project could further expand his presence among audiences outside the South Indian film industries.
Why This Don 3 Update Matters
Arjun Das' comments provide rare first-hand confirmation about one element of a project that has generated extensive casting speculation.
Rather than another unnamed-source report, the actor himself has acknowledged that discussions with Farhan Akhtar took place.
At the same time, his statement illustrates how significantly Don 3's plans have changed. A project that once had Ranveer Singh publicly announced as its new Don and was reportedly considering Das for another major role is now facing uncertainty over its cast and production path.
For now, the most firmly established position is straightforward: Arjun Das discussed Don 3 with Farhan Akhtar, but that collaboration is no longer proceeding. The future configuration of the film itself remains unconfirmed.
