October 3, 2026: Actor Jr NTR has strongly condemned the circulation of an AI-manipulated version of Chuttamalle, the popular song from Devara: Part 1 featuring him and Janhvi Kapoor. The altered clip reportedly uses artificial intelligence to create sexually explicit imagery involving Kapoor that was not present in the original video. Jr NTR said he intends to pursue legal action against people responsible for both creating and spreading the manipulated content.
The actor also urged social-media users not to watch, share or otherwise engage with the clip, arguing that circulation itself contributes to the harm caused by such material.
What Happened With the ‘Chuttamalle’ Video?
Over the past few days, an AI-generated manipulated version of Chuttamalle has circulated on social media, including X. The original song appears in Devara: Part 1 and features Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor.
According to multiple reports, the manipulated version digitally alters Kapoor's appearance to produce explicit imagery that was never part of the original song. This distinction is important: the controversial material is fabricated AI-generated content, not authentic footage of the actors.
Jr NTR Issues Strong Warning
Reacting publicly to the clip, Jr NTR described the AI manipulation as “disgusting, sick and shameless.” He said he would pursue every possible legal avenue against those responsible for creating and circulating it.
In one of the strongest lines of his statement, the actor warned those responsible: “I will not spare any of you.”
His response therefore targets two parts of the distribution chain: those allegedly responsible for producing the manipulated video and those knowingly spreading it online.
Jr NTR Asks People Not to Share the Clip
Alongside his legal warning, Jr NTR appealed to internet users not to amplify the material.
He asked people not to watch, share or engage with the manipulated video, pointing to the broader danger posed when a person's image can be altered without consent to produce degrading content.
That request is significant because viral distribution can make AI-generated abuse difficult to contain even after an original upload is removed. Copies can be reposted across multiple accounts and platforms.
Actor Calls for Stronger Action Against AI Misuse
Jr NTR also urged India's central and state governments to act against harmful applications of artificial intelligence and called for stricter measures addressing AI misuse.
The controversy comes amid broader regulatory attention to synthetic media in India. The government said in August that the Information Technology Act already covers offences including identity theft, impersonation, privacy violations and publication or transmission of obscene or sexually explicit material. It also said amendments to the IT Rules introduced in February 2026 strengthened requirements concerning synthetically generated information, including deepfakes.
Jr NTR Had Already Gone to Court Over AI Misuse
The latest controversy also has an important legal backdrop.
In December 2025, the Delhi High Court issued an interim injunction in a personality-rights case brought by Jr NTR, whose legal name is Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr. The case specifically raised concerns about unauthorised exploitation of his name, image and likeness, including through AI-generated deepfakes and morphed content.
The court restrained specified defendants from unauthorised commercial exploitation of attributes associated with the actor through technologies including artificial intelligence, generative AI and machine learning.
The existence of that earlier case means his latest warning is not the first time he has turned to legal protections over unauthorised digital use of his identity.
Janhvi Kapoor Has Also Faced Deepfake Concerns
The issue is particularly relevant to Janhvi Kapoor as well.
In August 2026, the Delhi High Court directed the removal of 552 URLs identified at that stage as containing grossly sexually vulgar or pornographic material targeting Kapoor. The court did not grant a blanket injunction covering thousands of additional disputed URLs without further classification.
That proceeding is separate from the latest Chuttamalle controversy, but it illustrates the broader challenge celebrities face when manipulated sexual material spreads across the internet.
Why This Case Matters Beyond Celebrity News
The Chuttamalle controversy illustrates a fundamental shift in the deepfake problem.
Traditional image manipulation generally required substantial editing skills. Generative AI tools can dramatically reduce the technical barrier to producing convincing fake images and videos, increasing the potential scale of non-consensual manipulation.
The damage can also extend beyond whether viewers ultimately discover that a video is fake. Once manipulated intimate imagery is circulated, the person depicted may face reputational and privacy harms despite having had no involvement in creating the material.
India's government has specifically recognised non-consensual intimate imagery and AI-generated deepfakes as online-safety concerns and has outlined legal and platform responsibilities intended to address them.
A Question of Consent, Not Just Technology
AI itself is not the central allegation in this controversy. Artificial intelligence has legitimate uses across cinema, visual effects, dubbing, production and creative work.
The concern arises when someone's identifiable likeness is manipulated without consent to create deceptive or sexually explicit material.
That makes the debate as much about consent, privacy, identity and distribution as about the underlying technology.
Jr NTR's response also places responsibility beyond the original creator. His warning specifically includes people spreading the manipulated video, highlighting how users can contribute to the reach of harmful synthetic content even if they did not create it.
What Happens Next?
Jr NTR has publicly promised legal action, but at the time of the latest reports, the full details of any new complaint or proceedings specifically concerning the Chuttamalle clip had not been publicly established.
That distinction matters: a stated intention to take legal action is not the same as a completed prosecution or court finding against identified individuals.
The immediate development is therefore Jr NTR's public condemnation, his warning to creators and distributors, and his appeal for stronger safeguards against harmful AI-generated content.
