The world of Brahmastra appears to be moving toward its next chapter, and Alia Bhatt’s Isha is expected to remain an important part of the franchise.
Fresh reports claim Bhatt will return in Brahmastra Part Two: Dev for an extended appearance, rather than being restricted to a fleeting continuation of her character from the first film. One report says she could spend roughly 25 shooting days on the sequel, although the filmmakers have not publicly confirmed those production details.
The development is significant because the second film is expected to broaden the narrative considerably. While Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva placed Shiva and Isha at the centre of its story, the sequel has long been designed to explore Dev and Amrita while continuing the present-day journey established in the first chapter. Director Ayan Mukerji previously described the sequel as a deeper and more conflict-driven story involving both timelines.
Isha’s Story Could Develop Beyond the First Film
Alia Bhatt introduced Isha as a central figure in Shiva’s life in the 2022 film. Their relationship formed a major emotional component of the story as Shiva discovered his connection to the mysterious Astraverse and his ability to control fire.
With the sequel expected to devote substantial attention to a different generation of characters, one of the key creative questions has been how much space Isha would receive.
The latest reporting suggests the filmmakers do not intend to leave her behind as the mythology grows. An extended role could allow Isha to remain connected to Shiva’s present-day journey while the film simultaneously explores the history surrounding Dev and Amrita.

Deepika Padukone Linked to Amrita Role
Another major piece of the sequel remains the casting of Amrita.
Recent reports have linked Deepika Padukone to the character, with discussions reportedly taking place for her participation in the project. Some reports describe the sequel as revolving substantially around Dev and Amrita while continuing Shiva and Isha’s story.
However, the distinction between reports and confirmed information is important. Padukone’s participation and the precise size of the various roles should be treated as developing information until the filmmakers formally announce the complete cast and character details.
Interestingly, speculation connecting Padukone with Amrita dates back to the first film. In 2022, Bhatt herself said she considered Padukone an ideal choice for the character, even as the filmmakers remained publicly silent about casting.

More recently, producer Namit Malhotra confirmed that work on Brahmastra Part Two: Dev would move forward following Ranbir Kapoor’s commitments to Ramayana.
Current reports point toward filming beginning around April 2027, though production schedules for large-scale films can change.

On paper, the evolving structure gives Brahmastra Part Two considerable potential.
