Actor Fatima Sana Shaikh has praised Salman Khan for publicly confronting online trolling and body-shaming, saying that a message from someone in his position can have a wider impact.
Fatima appeared on Bigg Boss 20 alongside Raghubir Yadav and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub to promote their series Hunkkaar: The Roar. During her interaction with Salman, she brought up his comments against trolls from an earlier Weekend Ka Vaar episode.
Fatima told Salman that she wanted to say something to him before their conversation moved forward. She praised him for responding strongly to online abuse, describing it as a “muh tod jawab” — a Hindi expression meaning a forceful or fitting response.
She also stressed the influence attached to Salman’s public platform, saying that when someone in his position speaks up and takes a stand, it can have a significant impact on people.
What Salman Khan said about trolling
Fatima’s remarks referred to a recent Bigg Boss 20 Weekend Ka Vaar episode in which Salman criticised the culture of attacking celebrities over their appearance, age and bodies.
During that episode, Salman addressed trolling directed at him over his own age, hairstyle and weight. He removed his hat and shirt while responding to comments about his appearance and questioned the mentality behind such personal attacks.
He also spoke more broadly about women being subjected to comments about their bodies after pregnancy. Although he did not name Katrina Kaif during that portion of the discussion, his remarks came amid online commentary about her post-pregnancy appearance. Reports and social-media users consequently interpreted his comments as support for her; that connection should be treated as an interpretation rather than something Salman explicitly stated.
Fatima says Salman’s voice carries influence
Fatima’s reaction focused not simply on Salman answering criticism directed at himself, but on the effect a prominent celebrity can have by speaking publicly about a broader pattern of online abuse.
Her comments add to reactions from other members of the entertainment industry. Richa Chadha, for example, publicly backed Salman’s criticism of body-shaming, particularly the scrutiny women face after childbirth.
