Four Killed in Early-Morning Jamshedpur Crash
JAMSHEDPUR, September 24, 2026 — Four people, including the daughter of Jharkhand Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Dipika Pandey Singh, were killed in a road accident in Jamshedpur in the early hours of Thursday.
Police said the car carrying the four occupants crashed into a stationary truck on Marine Drive Road in the Sonari police station area. The collision occurred at around 3 am near Domuhani, according to reports citing police officials.
Sonari police station officer-in-charge Sanjay Suman, quoted by PTI, identified the four deceased as Trisha Singh, Sarthak Agarwal, Naman Gupta and Vanshika Khandelwal. Trisha was identified as Minister Dipika Pandey Singh’s daughter.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Thakur said all four occupants of the car died at the scene.
Car Severely Damaged in Collision
The vehicle was badly damaged after striking the rear of the truck. According to The Indian Express, the car became wedged beneath the truck and the occupants were trapped inside. Their bodies were removed from the damaged vehicle with the help of a gas cutter and sent to MGM Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police officer Sanjay Suman was separately quoted as saying that the truck had broken down at around 10 pm the previous night and remained stationary when the car struck it from behind. Police said further legal procedures and investigation were underway.
PTI reported that visuals from the accident site showed the truck positioned on the right side of the four-lane road, close to the divider. A small tree branch had reportedly been placed behind it, apparently as a warning, while no reflector signage was visible in the reported visuals. The exact circumstances and cause of the collision remain subject to police investigation.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren Expresses Condolences
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed grief over the deaths and extended condolences to Dipika Pandey Singh and the families of the other victims.
Soren said he was “deeply distressed and heartbroken” by news of the accident and described the pain of losing a child as beyond words. He also prayed for peace for those who died and strength for their families.
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar also expressed condolences, describing the minister’s daughter’s death as deeply heartbreaking.
Police Investigating Circumstances of Crash
Authorities are examining the circumstances that led to the collision. As of the latest reports on September 24, no final police finding establishing the precise cause of the crash had been announced publicly.
Some initial news reports referred to Dipika Pandey Singh’s daughter as Istika Singh, while PTI-based reports quoting Sonari police station officer-in-charge Sanjay Suman identified her as Trisha Singh. The police-attributed identification has therefore been used here while acknowledging the discrepancy in early reporting.
