The DP World India Championship has added two more Masters champions to an already formidable field, with Patrick Reed and Bubba Watson confirming they will compete in New Delhi next month.
Both Americans will make their tournament debuts when the championship returns to Delhi Golf Club from October 15-18, 2026. Their participation adds further depth to a line-up featuring some of the biggest names in international golf, including Rory McIlroy and defending champion Tommy Fleetwood.
For Reed, the trip to India also comes at an important point in his pursuit of the Race to Dubai title.
Reed Brings Race to Dubai Lead to Delhi
Reed arrives as one of the season's leading players.
The 35-year-old American, who won the Masters in 2018, currently leads the Race to Dubai and is seeking to finish at the top of the season-long standings for the first time.
His position has been strengthened by a successful 2026 campaign that includes victories at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and Qatar Masters. Delhi therefore presents another opportunity to collect valuable points as the DP World Tour season approaches its decisive weeks.
The timing makes his India appearance particularly relevant. The tournament is the eighth of nine events on the Tour's Back 9, the closing stretch before the DP World Tour Play-Offs.
Reed has spoken positively about competing internationally and said he was looking forward to experiencing the tournament for the first time. The quality of the field and the championship's late-season position add to the competitive significance of his debut.
Watson to Make First Competitive Appearance at Delhi Golf Club
Watson will also be entering unfamiliar territory.
The left-hander won the Masters in 2012 and 2014 and has accumulated 15 career victories. His appearance will mark his first competitive outing at Delhi Golf Club.
Watson said he had heard encouraging reports about the course and the atmosphere surrounding golf in India.
“I've heard that Delhi Golf Club is a great test, and golf fans in India are very passionate, so I'm looking forward to the week.”
His game has long been associated with imagination and unconventional shot-making, qualities that could make his first look at Delhi Golf Club especially interesting. The course places a premium on positioning and accuracy, presenting a different challenge from venues where power off the tee carries greater weight.
Major Champions Give Delhi Field Considerable Depth
Reed and Watson are significant additions, but the strength of the championship lies in the wider field assembled for its second edition.
McIlroy is scheduled to compete alongside Fleetwood, who returns as defending champion. Ryan Fox, the 2026 Open champion, is also confirmed.
Major winners Shane Lowry and Justin Rose are among the other established names expected in Delhi, while Viktor Hovland and European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald are set to return. Australia's Min Woo Lee will make his tournament debut.
The international line-up will be joined by prominent Indian players, including Shubhankar Sharma and Anirban Lahiri, giving the home crowd established local contenders to follow against a field rich in major-championship and Ryder Cup experience.
Rather than depending on one headline attraction, the championship has assembled players from different generations and stages of their careers: major winners, current title contenders and leading Indian professionals.
$4 Million Championship Enters Its Second Year
The DP World India Championship was launched in 2025 and returns to Delhi Golf Club with a US$4 million prize fund.
Co-sanctioned with the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), it carries the largest purse for a DP World Tour tournament staged in the country.
That financial commitment is only part of its importance on the calendar.
Its position near the end of the Race to Dubai gives the event competitive weight for players trying to improve their rankings before the season moves into its playoff phase and ultimately the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai in November.
For Reed in particular, points collected in Delhi could matter directly to his attempt to finish the year as the Tour's leading player.
A Stronger International Stage for Indian Golf
The arrival of Reed and Watson gives Indian spectators the relatively rare opportunity to watch two Masters champions compete on home soil, but their presence is more meaningful when viewed alongside the rest of the field.
McIlroy, Fleetwood, Fox, Rose and Lowry bring additional major-winning credentials. Hovland and Lee add another generation of international talent, while Sharma and Lahiri provide a strong Indian presence.
For a tournament entering only its second edition, attracting that range of players gives the week in Delhi a level of sporting relevance that extends beyond celebrity appearances.
Reed will arrive with a season-long title race to manage. Watson will encounter Delhi Golf Club in competition for the first time. Fleetwood has a championship to defend.
Those overlapping storylines should give the tournament something more valuable than a collection of famous names: meaningful competition at a consequential stage of the season.
