Hope and Jangoo Take Control
West Indies captain Shai Hope and Amir Jangoo combined for an important 100-plus partnership against India in the second ODI at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday.
Their stand strengthened the West Indies innings after India had initially looked to make use of bowling first.
Hope anchored the partnership while Jangoo maintained the momentum from his recent performances, reaching another half-century as West Indies moved into a commanding position during the middle overs.

India Choose to Bowl First
India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to field.
The hosts made one change to their XI, handing Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi his ODI debut in place of Nitish Kumar Reddy.
West Indies, meanwhile, made four changes to their playing XI as they looked for a stronger response following defeat in the opening match of the series.
West Indies Fight Back After First-ODI Defeat
The partnership carried additional importance because West Indies entered the Guwahati match under pressure.
India won the opening ODI by eight wickets, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli scored centuries in that victory, with Kohli finishing unbeaten on 139.
That meant the visitors needed a significantly improved performance in the second ODI to keep the series alive.
Hope and Jangoo provided exactly the kind of sustained partnership West Indies required.

A century stand in the middle of an ODI innings does more than add runs. By preserving wickets while maintaining the scoring rate, Hope and Jangoo created an opportunity for West Indies' later batters to attack more aggressively during the closing overs.
