The Centre has renewed its push to advance the implementation of the Women's Reservation Bill by reaching out to opposition parties that had previously abstained during key parliamentary proceedings. The outreach reportedly includes discussions with the DMK and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar).

Government leaders are seeking to build wider political consensus around the legislation, which provides for 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies after the completion of the delimitation process and a fresh census.

Political observers believe the renewed engagement reflects the government's attempt to secure broader support for one of its key legislative reforms while addressing concerns raised by opposition parties regarding the timeline and implementation mechanism.

The outreach has reignited debate over the pace of implementation, electoral reforms, and the need for bipartisan cooperation on measures aimed at increasing women's representation in Indian politics.
