The "Missing Link" controversy escalated after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made remarks in the state Assembly that were strongly criticised by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and leaders of the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray-led Shiv Sena.

Opposition leaders alleged that the Chief Minister's comments were insensitive and politically motivated, while demanding greater accountability from the government on the issue. In response, the ruling side defended Fadnavis's statements, maintaining that his remarks had been taken out of context.

The exchange has further heightened political tensions in Maharashtra, with both sides accusing each other of attempting to politicise the matter. The controversy is expected to remain a key issue in the state's political discourse in the coming days.
