U.S. federal prosecutors have filed charges against Lawrence Bishnoi and several alleged associates as part of a broader crackdown on transnational organized crime. According to the indictment, the Bishnoi Organized Crime Group allegedly used high-profile incidents—including repeated threats against Salman Khan, the shooting at Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal's residence in Canada, and public claims relating to Sidhu Moosewala's murder—to spread fear and strengthen its extortion network.
The charges form part of "Operation Hard Ball," an international investigation targeting organized crime networks operating across multiple countries. Prosecutors allege the gang was involved in activities including extortion, targeted violence, drug trafficking, and other organized criminal acts. The indictment contains allegations that will be tested in court and does not represent a conviction.
