Anthropic's advanced AI model, Mythos 5, has received approval from the Trump administration for wider deployment after weeks of regulatory scrutiny over national security and cybersecurity concerns. The authorization allows the company to expand access to a select group of trusted organizations rather than keeping the model under tight restrictions.
Earlier this month, U.S. authorities imposed limits on access to Anthropic's most advanced AI models, citing concerns about their potential misuse in cybersecurity and other high-risk applications. Following negotiations and the implementation of additional safeguards, the government has eased some of those restrictions for approved users.
Anthropic has stated that it intends to gradually broaden access while continuing to prioritize AI safety and responsible deployment. The move reflects the growing role of government oversight in the rollout of powerful artificial intelligence systems and highlights the balance policymakers are attempting to strike between innovation and national security.
