Gold and silver prices remained at elevated levels in India on Saturday morning, September 19, keeping precious metals firmly in focus for investors as well as jewellery buyers.

According to the latest available retail benchmark, 24-carat gold was priced at ₹1,54,430 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stood at ₹1,41,560 per 10 grams. The price of 18-carat gold was ₹1,15,830 per 10 grams.

Silver, meanwhile, was quoted at around ₹2.50 lakh per kilogram in a September 19 market update. Actual gold and silver prices can differ depending on the city, dealer and jeweller.

Gold Rate Today: 24K Gold Holds Near ₹1.54 Lakh

Gold continues to trade at historically elevated levels in the domestic market.

The latest benchmark places 24K gold at ₹15,443 per gram, which translates to ₹1,54,430 per 10 grams.

For buyers looking at 22K gold, which is widely used in jewellery, the corresponding price is approximately ₹14,156 per gram, or ₹1,41,560 per 10 grams.

Meanwhile, 18K gold is priced at about ₹11,583 per gram, translating to ₹1,15,830 per 10 grams.

The benchmark rates were only ₹10 per 10 grams above the previous day's corresponding levels, indicating relatively limited day-on-day movement after stronger price action in the preceding session.

Silver Rate Today: Price Around ₹2.50 Lakh Per Kg

Silver also remains expensive in the domestic market.

The latest reported retail benchmark puts silver at approximately ₹2,50,000 per kilogram, equivalent to roughly ₹250 per gram.

Silver prices have shown considerable movement during September, making the metal an important watchpoint not only for investors but also for consumers and industries that use silver as an input.

Unlike gold, silver has substantial industrial applications alongside its role as a precious metal, meaning its price can respond to both investment demand and changes in industrial consumption.

Gold Prices Vary Across Major Indian Cities

Gold prices are not necessarily identical across India. Local market conditions and dealer quotations can create small differences between cities.

A separate September 19 city-rate tracker showed 24K gold at ₹1,54,570 per 10 grams in Delhi.

The corresponding rate was approximately ₹1,54,420 per 10 grams in Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune, while Bengaluru and Chennai were quoted at ₹1,54,470 per 10 grams.

For 22K gold, the same tracker showed approximately ₹1,41,700 per 10 grams in Delhi, ₹1,41,550 in Mumbai, and ₹1,41,600 in Chennai and Bengaluru.

The small differences between these figures and other national benchmarks underline an important point for consumers: bullion prices published online are generally indicative, and the actual rate offered by a jeweller may differ.

Why Your Jewellery Bill Can Be Higher Than the Gold Rate

The gold rate displayed in market reports is not necessarily the final amount a customer will pay when purchasing jewellery.

A jewellery bill can also include GST, making charges and other applicable costs. Making charges can vary considerably depending on the jeweller, product and complexity of the design.

For this reason, consumers comparing jewellery prices should consider the final payable amount, rather than comparing only the headline per-gram gold rate.

Purity is another important consideration.

24K gold represents the highest-purity category commonly quoted in bullion markets, while 22K and 18K contain lower proportions of pure gold and are commonly used for different types of jewellery.

Buyers should therefore verify both the purity and applicable hallmark before completing a purchase.

What Is Affecting Gold and Silver Prices?

Domestic gold and silver prices can be influenced by a combination of international and local factors.

Movements in global bullion markets, the US dollar, interest-rate expectations, geopolitical developments and investor demand can all influence precious-metal prices.

Currency movements are particularly relevant for Indian buyers because India relies heavily on imported gold. A change in the value of the rupee against the US dollar can therefore affect domestic gold prices even when international bullion prices remain relatively stable.

Silver can additionally respond to expectations around industrial demand because the metal is widely used across manufacturing and technology-related applications.

What Buyers Should Check Before Purchasing Gold

With gold trading above ₹1.50 lakh per 10 grams, even a relatively small difference in price can have a meaningful impact on the final cost of a large purchase.

Consumers should therefore check the latest local gold rate, verify purity and hallmarking, compare making charges and understand the applicable taxes before purchasing jewellery.

For investment-oriented buyers, it is also important to distinguish between physical jewellery prices and other forms of gold exposure because jewellery can involve additional costs that are not directly linked to the underlying bullion value.

Gold-Silver Rate Today: Key Takeaway

As of the morning of September 19, 2026, the latest available benchmark puts 24K gold at ₹1,54,430 per 10 grams, 22K gold at ₹1,41,560 and 18K gold at ₹1,15,830.

Silver is trading at approximately ₹2.50 lakh per kilogram, according to a separate September 19 retail market update.

With both precious metals at elevated levels, consumers should check the latest local rate before making a transaction, particularly because prices can change during the day and vary between cities and dealers.

Disclaimer: Gold and silver prices can fluctuate during trading hours. Rates quoted above are indicative market/retail benchmarks and may differ depending on location, dealer, taxes, making charges and other applicable costs.
