SiMa.ai Secures $150 Million Series C
SiMa.ai announced on September 28, 2026, that it had secured $150 million in Series C funding, marking another major investment in the growing Physical AI sector.
The oversubscribed round was co-led by Fidelity Management & Research Company and Amplify. Existing investors including Dell Technologies Capital, Maverick Capital, Point72, StepStone Group, Alter Venture Partners and +ND Capital participated, while AllianceBernstein, Baron Capital, J.P. Morgan and the State of Michigan joined as new investors.
The financing values SiMa.ai at $1.45 billion and takes the company's total funding to $500 million.
Funding to Power Next Generation of Physical AI
Unlike AI systems operating primarily in cloud data centres, Physical AI focuses on machines that use artificial intelligence to perceive their surroundings, make decisions and act in the real world.
SiMa.ai is developing hardware and software designed for these workloads, targeting areas including humanoid robotics, autonomous drones, automotive advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and AI-powered vehicle cockpits.
The company says its next-generation hardware portfolio will include machine-learning intellectual property, chiplets and systems-on-chip, with products currently planned for the first half of 2028.
Why This Funding Matters
The investment comes as AI development increasingly moves beyond chatbots and cloud-based generative AI toward machines capable of interacting directly with physical environments.
SiMa.ai is positioning itself in this emerging market by focusing on AI computing at the edge, where performance, power consumption and real-time processing can be critical.
The company already offers its Modalix MLSoC hardware alongside its Palette Neat development environment, which is designed to help developers build Physical AI applications.
The new capital gives SiMa.ai additional resources to develop higher-performance silicon and compete for customers as semiconductor companies intensify their focus on robotics and edge AI.
India Plays a Role in SiMa.ai's Expansion
SiMa.ai is headquartered in San Jose but also has a significant presence in India. Business Standard reported that the company has around 90 employees in India and has gained commercial traction across robotics, drones and automotive applications.
That makes the funding relevant not only to the global semiconductor industry but also to India's growing role in AI engineering and chip-related research and development.
What Comes Next?
SiMa.ai now faces the challenge of turning increased investment and demand for Physical AI into large-scale commercial adoption.
Robotics, autonomous vehicles and drones represent potentially large markets, but they also require reliable hardware, efficient power consumption, strong software ecosystems and lengthy product-development cycles.
The $150 million round gives SiMa.ai more resources to pursue that opportunity, but its longer-term position will depend on how successfully its next-generation products translate technical capabilities into widespread deployments.
