Essex cricketer Robin Das has been charged with two counts of rape following an investigation into an alleged incident involving a woman in Brixton, London, in March 2024.
The 24-year-old top-order batter was formally charged on July 23, 2026, after having been arrested on August 27, 2025, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Das is due to appear at Inner London Crown Court on Friday, October 9.
Essex County Cricket Club has separately confirmed that a male member of its playing staff has been suspended in connection with legal proceedings relating to an incident outside club activities. The club did not identify the player by name in its official statement.

Authorities said the woman continues to receive support from specialist officers.

The county said it has remained in contact with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA), the Cricket Regulator and the player during the process.
Essex said the matter resulted in an “immediate and ongoing suspension.”
The club added that it has safeguarding and human-resources procedures in place and expects employees to maintain high standards of professional conduct.

Das last represented Essex in the One-Day Cup against Middlesex on July 21, 2026 — two days before the date on which police say he was formally charged.
It was his only senior appearance for Essex during the 2026 season.
Das has played across all three major domestic formats. His career includes nine first-class appearances for Essex, as well as 29 List A matches. He has also played T20 cricket, including appearances for Dhaka Dominators in the Bangladesh Premier League.
He made his Essex debut in 2020 and is primarily a top-order batter.
